Janet Bridgers is a media relations specialist with 27 years of experience. She is a New Mexico native, recently returned to the state after living in Los Angeles for 27 years.

Bridgers is a political and environmental activist with a dual career in health care communications. She worked 19 years with a Santa Monica public relations firm, specializing in health care and simultaneously co-founded Earth Alert, an Emmy award-winning environmental nonprofit organization devoted to a wide range of environmental issues including marine mammal protection, coastal water quality, recycling and renewable energy.

More recently, she has become a regular contributor to the op-ed page of the Ventura County Star. She has also begun producing documentaries, the first, Sand, Sun, Oil & Gas, on the history of oil and gas issues in the Santa Barbara Channel, received significant newspaper coverage in both the Santa Barbara News-Press and the Ventura County Star. She is expert at finding ways to harness the broad reach of media to cost-effectively achieve communications goals. She has extensive experience in media strategy and implementation—in simple terms, how to get positive media coverage at a fraction of the cost of advertising. Her work often has involved other writing and website development assignments that contribute to a client’s long range objectives.

Bridgers currently serves on the board of Quote-Unquote, Inc., the 501c3 that contracts with the City of Albuquerque to provide public access television on Channel 27.
